Heavy Metal Reviews
1: Saliva "Blood Stained Love Story" (5.5/10)
Blood Stained Love Story is the fifth album from Saliva. Are they still as good as they once was or has Saliva finally dried up? Probably should get a glass of water and see!!
2: In Flames - Come Clarity (8/10)
Melodic metal masters In Flames, co-creators of the Gothenberg style of heavy metal, released their 8th studio album "Come Clarity" in 2006. If you missed it when it was released, you're missing a lot. Brutal riffs and soaring choruses combine to create something wholly unique.
3: Five Finger Death Punch - The Way of the Fist (6.5/10)
Five Finger Death Punch is a "super group" composed of ex-members hailing from variety of established groups. Blistering dual guitars combined with melodic singing combine to form an album which makes up in earnestness what it lacks in originality.
4: Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies (8.25/10)
Metalcore's last great hope have re-released their 2006 hit "As Daylight Dies." Soaring vocals backed by brutal guitar riffs and crushing drumming combine to form amazingly accessible melodic death metal.
5: Alter Bridge "Blackbird" (7/10)
Alter Bridge resurrected the music-making portion of Creed. After that band's 2004 dissolution, guitarist Mark Tremonti and drummer Scott Phillips tapped ousted bassist Brian Marshall for the new project. Ex-Mayfield Four frontman Myles Kennedy was soon on board as well. Alter Bridge made its Wind-Up debut in August 2004 with One Day Remains. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
6: Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead (7.4/10)
The lead singer of one of Heavy Metal's most outspoken social consciences goes it alone and stretches his wings while the band is on hiatus.
7: Sonic Syndicate - Only Inhuman (7/10)
Formed in 2004 and comprised of double vocalists Richard Sjunnesson and Roland Johasson, guitarists Roger Sjunnesson and Robin Sjunnesson, bassist Karin Axlesson, and drummer John "Runken" Bengtsson, Sonic Syndicate debuted the following year with their Eden Fire CD, then signed with Nuclear Blast for the release of their second effort, Only Inhuman, in 2007.
